Is too much texting a mental illness?

ABC news says that too much texting can be a mental illness.

Are you a text-oholic? Obsessive Texting. The need to always have your phone in your hands.

If you have the following symptoms, you might just be.

1.Excessive Use - texting so much you loose sense of time or neglect your day to day activities.
2. Withdrawal - feeling anger, tension, or depression when you have to go without your device.
3. Tolerance - not minding hours of testing, or even upgrading your phone so that you can text more.
4. Negative repercussion - Getting into arguments, lying, social isolation, or even fatigue when it comes to sending messages.

Some say it's so addictive because you can do it while in a meeting, or in class.

I have to admit, I love to text. I wouldn't go as far as to say I have a mental illness. I do text a lot. I just checked last months bill, and I used 2774 text messages. Thank goodness for unlimited texting.

More than just a walk.

Tonight was a perfect night for a walk. So the boys grabbed there bikes, and we grabbed the dog leashes and we all went for a stroll around the neighborhood. Our walk was a little humorous. Alex was having trouble staying on the sidewalk with his bike, so he kept getting upset. Little Adam was doing great, he was trying to do a willy on his bike. (at that point I just need to look away) I was walking with Trinidad and Adam had Laila. Laila can be a wild child. We always let the dogs do there business before we leave the house so that they don't leave any unwanted surprises in anyone else's yards. So we are walking along, or should I say Trinidad was pulling me along, when Trinidad tried to do his business in another yard, so I tell him to stop, and we walk some more. Alex falls off his bike a few times. Laila is barks at all the Dogs in the neighborhood, I guess she is saying Hi, and Lil' Adam is still trying to do a willy. We can tell Trinidad still needs to go. Laila stops in the middle of the road and does her business, right in the middle of the road. I mean girlfriend does not care. Poor Trinidad is still holding it. So we finally find him a spot, and they are both happy. I guess you had to be there, but if you see a pile in the middle of the road, yeap that's my girl.

P.S. I almost forgot the funniest part. So when we stopped on the corner near the road so Trinidad could do his do. Alex gets off his bike, and says I have to go to the bathroom too. He was going to go right here. No sir. You can wait til we get home. Thanks Pepaw.

What to do.

So my oldest son goes to middle school next year and we have been struggling with what to do about school for a while. The middle school he is supposed to go to scores 20 points below JCPS and state averages. Not good. So I am bound and determined to get him into another school. JCPS has a magnet and advanced program that you can apply to. We can pick two schools that we want to apply to. Adam had to take the AP test and missed it by 2 points. So his 1st choice is out for this year. We will try again next year. We are still waiting to hear from his second choice school. In the mean time we are looking for Private Schools. We are also looking at the fact that we may need to move. Because of the No Child Left Behind Act, they are giving us the option to send him to a virtual middle school. Not sure I like the sound of that. I am just frustrated at the school system. My sister goes to the school Adam is supposed to go to, and I haven't seen any changes for the better. If Adam doesn't get into his second choice our hands are tied. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I saw that the school system was doing something to improve his home school or all JCPS schools. I just had to vent a little.

Weekend highlights

This weekend was so jam packed, you do not want to hear all the details, so here is a weekend highlights.

Friday
  • Me and my hubby were off work Friday. I ran around and we didn't really spend any time together.

  • We had to pick my son up from school for the second time that week, sickness go away.

  • We had to go to Horner Novelty to pick up some more supplies for Eggstravaganza. My kids are right next to us, and they walk into the DO NOT ENTER if you are under 18 room. I yelled STOP. Oh my, not good. I guess there is something about a No Not Enter sign that tells kids to go ahead and check it out. I don't think they saw anything before my husband snatched them out, they had literally stepped into the swinging door when we stopped them. Anyway, not to excited about a room like that being in a party planning store, right next to sponge bob birthday decor. They could at least lock the door.
  • We ate at KFC, we got the buffet, not very tasty.

  • Got to bed at about midnight.

Saturday

  • Woke at 4am with Alex's asthma.

  • Took a trip to ER

  • Got home at 8am, showered and got to church at 8:30 for Eggstravaganza.

  • It was cold, but the kids had fun 1500-2000 kids showed up.

  • helped in launch for out Saturday Night Live service. Jen and D Norwood do a great job with the kids. They minister to them, it's not a day care. The kids are getting fed the Word of God. As they did the alter call, a lot of kids responded. I learned a lot about God in that service. Thanks to Jen and D for giving so much of yourselves to minister to my kids, so that they can grow in there relationship and help to lead others to Christ. It is working.
  • Alex lost another tooth, the second one this week.
Sunday
  • Kicked of Call of Duty Sermon Series - You have got to come check this out. We already have people in mind who are getting this series on DVD. Don't miss Sunday!

  • We went to Henry County for my family Easter Dinner and Egg Hunt. The Norwoods joined us, we adopted them for Easter. We really adopted them long before that.

  • Got home and crashed for 2 hours. Slept right threw the UofL game

  • UofL won!!!!!!!!

My Artistic Ability or Lack There Of.

So we are making posters for the Carnival games for NVMC.tv Easter Eggstravaganza. I had to draw a mouse, so here is my mouse.

Kind of pittiful huh. Thank goodness God blessed my husband with some artistic ability.

Adam is really good, this is real cartoony, but he can really draw, and enjoys it. I wish he would do more of it.

Adam's b-ball Team

My Sis, Sledding, Sweet Home Alabama!

This weekend was very exciting. It snowed, 10 inches. I love the snow!!!

Friday was my birthday and we went to my mom and dads for cake. While we were sitting there in there living room we heard this loud voice say, “Is somebody missing from this Party!” It was my sister Jacqueline. She flew in from Florida for my birthday. I held onto her and didn’t want to let go. I couldn’t believe it. Adam was the only person that knew she was coming in, and he kept the surprise. I love surprises, and this one tops the list.

That night we went sledding. It was OK, but the snow and ice was falling fast.

Saturday morning I made breakfast and shoveled the driveway. Man, that was hard work. But I knew I couldn’t sit in the house all day. My sister was at my mom and dads and I had to get over there. Jacqueline, Ashley, me and the boys went sledding at Joe Creason Park with some friends from Church and we had a ball. The best sledding I have ever had.

Sunday was Vision Sunday at Church. Pastor David shared his Vision, and updated us on the Relocation project, and assured us that it is alive and well. With first service cancelled, the 11am service was packed. Pastor Craig almost broke out in Umbrella…ella…ella…a….a….a…

After service was Launch’s First (I hope we do this again, it was fun) Family Fun day. Here are some of the highlights.

Everyone contributed $500 to hear Pastor David sing. Pastor, it was for a great cause, and you did great!!
We won the auction for the Louisville Basketball autographed my Rick Pitino for Little Adam, he was so excited, and very appreciative.
Angela Ferguson, Luke Morgan, Jen Norwood, and Demetric Norwood all got Pies in there faces. We Raised a lot of money
The jail went over great. The kids loved putting there friends and parents in Jail. Check out my myspace for some pics of our felons.
My son Adam sang Karaoke, he sang Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
It was just a great time!!! Jen and D, and all the volunteers you guys did great with this.

Last nights B-ball games. We won’t mention those. Lol.

I better correct myself before Adam sees this and calls me out. He thought of Killer Bees. So I have to give him credit on that one.

Lemon Heads

Ha ha. See my poll to the right on my Blog. Adam and I are playing Volleyball and our team needs a name. These are some I thought of, I like them all, I just think its funny that Lemon Heads got the first vote. Our team color is Yellow.

Yeah, I fixed my comments.

OK, it has really been bugging me that my comment links disappeared, so I finally figured it out and you can leave comments again.

What a weekend

I had a great weekend. Friday my mom and I Joined some ladies from Church at the Church of God Women's Conference in Lexington. We had a great time. It is called a Fresh Encounter, and the theme this year was Blessed 2 Bless. I was truly blessed, and want to be a blessing to others.

I am so glad that my mom was able to go with me this year. She works so hard, with work, going to school full time, and being involved at church, that she very rarely get the chance to take time for herself. I was blessed to have this time with my mom.

We had fun shopping, and I got the sassiest Green Purse. I like green (its the only color that doesn't clash with my hair).

Service that night was great. The message: Come out with your hands up. She said something that still is with me. Too many times we hand something over to God, only to take it back right before he is about to bless us. We miss our blessing and the opportunity to let God take care of that thing we handed over to him. Come out with your hands up, an act of surrendering.

That night, I got to hang out with some of the ladies, and really bonded. I love getting a chance to get to know people. I was blessed to have the time with these ladies, and look forward to getting to know them more.

The next morning was a slow go after staying up until 3am talking. Remember, I am shy, but once I get to know you a little, I can talk! Saturday morning a few of us bonded over Starbucks. I was really blessed by Starbucks after that late night. Lol

The services that morning were right on. Is there anyone in the church that can still prophecy? She talked to us about the power of the tongue. We need to watch what we speak. There is great power in our words. We need to speak good things over ourselves, our children, our Husband, our friends and our church. Pam, Becky and I were actually talking about this that morning before service. God we hear you. This speaker also said something that hit me in my gut. She was talking about praying for others. People we don't even know. We need to take this seriously. I pray for my boys, I may pray for my boys like no one else will pray for them. Think about the kids who don't have a mom or dad, they have no one praying for them. You may be the only one praying for that person. Wow. I think of my husband, my boys, and my family. What if I am the only one praying for them, and I don't pray.

This weekend was great, I laughed, cried, cried some more, and laughed again. It felt good.
